APGA Summer Travel Grant

Currently enrolled graduate students who have been invited to give a scholarly paper or presentation at a professional meeting or conference may apply for a $500 grant from this source. The activity must take place between June 1 and Aug. 31. The application deadline to apply for a summer travel grant is May 1. Please submit requests to David Redman, Associate Dean.

The APGA Summer Travel Grants will therefore complement and extend for the summer, the Dean's Fund for Scholarly Travel, which provides assistance for the same purpose during the academic year. The same guidelines will also apply. Please refer to the Dean's Fund for Scholarly Travel guidelines.

An application for the APGA Summer Travel Grant should consist of a letter from the applicant describing the meeting, a copy of the invitation to present (or, alternatively, a copy of the conference program page listing the student's presentation), a brief budget of travel expenses, and a letter of support from either the student's dissertation adviser or director of graduate studies.

Requests are reviewed, in part, on a first-come, first-served basis, and not every worthy request in every funding period can be granted. In short, there is a limited amount of funding available.  The Graduate School Office will hold all requests received up to the deadline, review them, and make its decisions. If after that funds remain, then requests received after the deadline will be considered.
